because they are not supposed to be. when the effects are all there, the meaning of the piece tends to get lost in between the fancy brushes and textures. everyone can get that done. it's not hard. i'm not saying they're not artists, everyone call can themselves artists these days. take your pieces for example: i've seen identical works a million times before.
putting a meaning, a soul into typography, that's what i'm into. not some flashy effects that look exactly like in a tutorial on the web. sure, they can get a little minimalistic every now and then, but that's the risk i'm willing to take, trying to do something different.
