Good question, but "everything" shouldn't be taken so literally.
The point of this was, to some, Christianity believes sin is everywhere, and doing most things is sinning (at least it is for some conservative countries, like Poland, for instance). And that is a belief taught very early, since childhood, hence the child writing and crayon-like colors.
